Empowering Students To Make A Change

If the church is not confined to a building, then neither is Student Ministry! If change is going to happen in schools, it’s going to come through students. How can you empower, equip, and send out your students to see change in their school or community? A really simple and practical first step is prayer!

You do not have to convince students that prayer is important. However, many students feel the need for permission to participate in prayer. Many students feel they don’t have the right words or live the right life to talk to God and intercede for their school. They are looking for someone to tell them that prayer is not just for their pastor, grandparent, or small group leader. They can pray; in fact, God wants to hear from them!

Claim Your Campus is a great way students can begin to see their school and community changed! Claim Your Campus is calling 1 million middle and high schoolers to start prayer groups on their school campuses. There are three simple steps to start a prayer group:

  1. Download the Claim Your Campus app: This is a free app with daily prayer guides that will help students facilitate a time of prayer on their campus and confidently lead their peers.
  2. Invite 2+ friends: God tells us in Scripture that where two or more are gathered, He is with them! We encourage students to show up together! There is power in numbers, but there’s also comfort… They are not alone!
  3. Show up weekly and pray: They pick a day and time that works best for them. This can be before school, after school, or during lunch. Then, they just open the app and pray!

Prayer doesn’t have to be intimidating; in fact, you can help them feel even more prepared to pray for their school! Claim Your Campus has free prayer resources for Youth Pastors and leaders to start prayer groups in their Youth Groups and then send your students out to do it themselves on their campuses.

When your students gather to pray on their campus, they are not just praying for their school but also for their nation and their generation. This means that as they pray and see change in their school, they will also see change in their community. Prayer equals change, and God wants to use them where they’re at NOW to change their school and community! Let’s come alongside students to empower and equip them to run!
