Prayer on the Move: Why Prayer Walks Matter

When a pandemic hit the world, many of us had to ask the question, “What do we do now?” For the Claim Your Campus team, it was an unforeseen time of ministry. How were we going to reach schools with student-led prayer if no one was on campus? The Lord made it clear that we could not stop calling people to pray! This birthed a new effort of calling people to support schools on the outside through prayer walks!

The Prayer Walk Project started to form in 2021 as we partnered with ministries like One Voice, Jesus Clubs, Pray KC, Caring for Kids KC, and the Campus Alliance to prayer walk cities. We would assign groups a list of schools to pray for and the Lord captured people’s hearts! Adults started to see the need to pray for and support local schools after walking with us. This gave us the idea of inviting adults nationally to join Claim Your Campus once a year for two powerful days of prayer!

And now we’re inviting YOU to join us this year! Mark your calendar for either September 21st or 28th, 2024 (you choose the day) for an incredible morning of prayer. Join families and churches nationwide in walking around a middle or high school to proclaim grace, peace, justice, and mercy in the name of Jesus!

Last year, 30 states participated across America. Hundreds of schools were impacted. We believe campuses are becoming holy ground as we pray! It’s time for another powerful moment to impact our nation. If you have never prayer walked before, watch this tutorial video for how to prayer walk using the CYC Prayer Walk Guide!

We chose these two Saturdays in support of a powerful day of student-led prayer that happens on the last Wednesday of September every year: See You At The Pole (SYATP)! We know as students pray for their schools around their flag poles and inside the walls each following week, we can support them from the outside through prayer walks.

SYATP is happening September 25th this year and the theme is “1st Pray!” This is the perfect day for middle and high schoolers to start a weekly prayer meeting.

Students all over the world will gather at their school’s flagpole at 7am to lead a time of prayer together in unity. What an incredible opportunity for young people to come together for something that matters! Prepare for this special day at syatp.com !

Pray over this school year with us:

Lord,

We give you this 2024-2025 school year. May you be known and glorified in every middle and high school campus. Bring light, hope, and healing to every hallway and every student. Guide and protect each educator. We trust in what you can do as we pray!

In Jesus’ name, Amen!
